About Me

My name is Nnaemeka Phil Eke-Okocha, though most people know me simply as Phil. I am a scholar, advocate, and practitioner at the intersection of conflict resolution, sustainable development, and global governance. Originally from southeastern Nigeria, my journey has taken me from West Africa to Italy, Nepal, the United States, and the halls of the United Nations — driven at every stop by a deep conviction that peace and sustainability are inseparable goals.

I am currently a PhD Candidate in Global Governance and Human Security at the University of Massachusetts Boston. My research explores how climate change, conflict, and human security intersect — with a particular focus on migration, environmental peacebuilding, and transnational governance.

Beyond academia, I have spent years turning ideas into action — leading a global network of 850+ fellows at the United Nations -Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth, working with Oxfam, the Institute of Crisis Management Studies in Nepal, and Rondine Cittadella della Pace in Italy. I am also the Founder and Director of the Adesso Development Initiative, building locally grounded solutions to development challenges. I have spoken at the United Nations headquarters in New York on multiple occasions, and at several other international events.

When I am not researching or teaching, I am most likely watching football as a proud AS Roma supporter, or following my OKC Thunder through the NBA season. Sports, much like my work, remind me of the power of teamwork and resilience.

I am based in Boston, Massachusetts, and I welcome conversations about research collaborations, speaking invitations, or shared work in peacebuilding, climate security, and sustainable development.
